Who We Are
A passionate group of distillante enthusiasts founded Arbitrario Mezcal, a spirit built on generations of tradition and full-bodied emotion.

Rooted In Tradition

Deeply rooted in ancient Zapotec culture, Mezcal was known as the drink of the gods. Traditionally, it was used to toast to the winners of Juego de Pelota, translated as "Ball Game."

This intense and contentious, sometimes war-preventing athletic competition, would only result in a single player left, deemed the winner by the árbitro. When the ball passed through its final hoop, the victor would raise a glass of Mezcal to toast not only their triumph, but as a tribute to the sacrifice made to the gods.
